Cole DeShazer

BA / MA /CAC ll

Hello!  My name is Cole DeShazer.  In May 2018, I graduated from Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska with a degree in Psychology and minors in Coaching and Strength Conditioning.  I achieved admittance to Psy Chi, an international psychological honor society which was founded in 1929.  I was also on the Dean's List for consecutive multiple semesters as a result of my diligence to my studies.  Part of my interests led me to serve as an intern at a counseling center in Hastings which primarily focused on youth treatment.  After graduating I began working with clients fro Bridge Street Counseling.

I attended Hastings College on both athletic and academic scholarships, playing baseball for that institution.  Unfortunately, a career ending injury would not allow me back onto the field after my second year.  I was blessed that Hastings College saw an opportunity for me and offered me a position as an assistant baseball coach for the Broncos' program.  This allowed me to maintain the athletic scholarship and my studies.  During summers home, I coached four years of summer baseball for Brighton High School.  I am currently an assistant baseball and softball coach for Riverdale Ridge High School.  In May of 2018, I became certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) to further enhance my ability to impact young athletes.

The principles of leadership, mentoring and coaching have had a significant impact on me personally and professionally.  I have decided that a career as a counselor is a noble and rewarding career.  As a first step, I  obtained my certification as a Registered Psychotherapist in the State of Colorado.  Additionally, I have completed course work to be a Certified Addiction Counselor II  (CACII) and currently hold a certification as a CACll.  I enrolled in a Master's level counseling program which will culminate with becoming a Licensed Profession Counselor (LPC).

My passion is found in helping those that are struggling to find a healthier alternative. Given my internship and coaching experience, I find that my strength is working with young adults.
